9.30am: Turnberrie’s Art Competition Deadline
Turnberrie's Community Centre, Thornbury

Turnberrie’s Community Centre is running an Art Competition as part of its Jubilee celebrations and would love entries from Thornbury's children.

The theme is: The Queen's Jubilee!

You could draw the Queen, her crown, her jewels, Buckingham Palace, the horse and carriage or even a bouquet of flowers that you would like to give to her! Or something of your own choice, you decide.

Our Competition Rules: Please hand in your A4 pictures to either your school or to Turnberrie’s Reception by 5pm on Friday 25th May. Please write on the back of your entry, your name, address and age group – either 4-8 years, 9-11
years or 12-16 years.

Prize for 1st place and consolation prize and certificate for runners up in each age category.

Turnberrie’s staff look forward to seeing your entries. GOOD LUCK!

9am: School in the Forest Holiday Club 6th, 7th and 8th June
Old Down Country Park

School in the Forest is pleased to announce that we will be running a Holiday Club for the 3 days of the June Holidays.

If you are looking for childcare for your children while you go out to work the School in the Forest may be able to help.

School in the Forest has broken the mould slightly with its Holiday Club and we are proud to do so. We are committed to giving children the best experiences possible and we feel that more of these are had outside in the GREAT outdoors rather than stuck inside in front of a games console and that is what we offer the children who attend our Holiday Club.

9am: Junior Nature Detectives Day
Old Down Country Park

Registration starts at 9am and activities run from 10am until 4pm.

Due to popular demand from children who were not old enough to attend the Nature Detectives day on the 6th April we have decided to run a Junior Nature Detectives Activity Day.

The age range for this activity day is up to the discretion of parents but would be ideal for children who are 3–7 years old.

This day will run slightly differently from the Nature Detectives day as parents will have to do the activities along with the children.

So for all of those junior adventurers who like the GREAT outdoors and love getting close up to wildlife then this is their chance.

11am: Medieval Fayre
Winterbourne Medieval Barn

Gates open from 11am to 5pm, entrance fee £3, Winterbourne Medieval Barn, Court Farm, Church Lane, Winterbourne BS36 1SE

To all the living in the lands of the chantry and wardenship of what is now called Saint Michael the archangel, that what used to be called Saint Mary’s, that of the parish church of Winterbourne Manorial estate, and including the good people of the Greater Bristol area and all other lands surrounding this, even that which is beyond the seas: The Winterbourne Medieval Barn activities Group, along with The Company of Chivalry, requests your attendance to the “Annual Winterbourne Medieval Fayre” and there to make merriment.

Yet again we are fortunate enough to be entertained by “The Company of Chivalry”, who re-enact the time of the then King Edward 3rd, and one of his sons, John of Gaunt, of which Lord Thomas Hungerford was a vassal.

It is hoped that my Lord and Lady de Bradeston will be able to attend the Medieval Fayre this year, if he is not away... Read more >>
