11am: Children's Cookery Showcase
St Mary Centre

In aid of tackling eating disorders, obesity and fussy eaters in early childhood, Jo Green is going public with her little chefs from the Magic of Food Cookery Classes. Come and see their showcase 11am to 1pm.

The programme will include:

☺ Working methods for getting your child on to the “healthy eating” idea, where Jo explains early building foundations etc.
☺ How is it all linked to using fresh ingredients and cooking from scratch!
☺ How this supports our local economy and the use of local food supplies!
☺ The need to reintroduce cookery skills in schools - Jo will integrate a school competition announcement for 4 winners.

10.30am: South Gloucestershire Family Fun Day
Kingswood Park

Our popular annual event runs from 10.30am to 4pm at Kingswood Park, High Street, Kingswood and provides a variety of entertainment for families, with a selection of live music acts, face painting, street art displays and food stalls to enjoy.

There will also be a variety of stalls with information about what services the council and its partner organisations such as the NHS provide to families in South Gloucestershire and where to go to receive further advice and support.

Tying in with National Family Week which runs from 27 May to 2 June, the event is aimed at the whole family, and helps build stronger communities by bringing people together to have fun and enjoy everything their local area has to offer.

Visit Dr Jenner's House on Thursdays or Fridays through the month of May and join an exclusive Tour of the Archaeological Dig absolutely free!

Students of The University of Bristol Archaeology Department have returned this year to unearth the history beneath Dr Jenner's Garden during their annual excavations.

We have teamed up with the University to deliver Tours of the excavations as the dig unfolds. The Tours will be held at 2pm and 3pm every Thursday and Friday through the month of May and are absolutely FREE to anyone visiting Dr Jenner's House. Visitors who just wish to take the Tour can purchase a Tour ticket from our Front of House Team for just £2 per person.

Book up your space today, numbers are limited to 20 per tour.

Back by popular demand, Yvonne Cox of Avon and South Gloucestershire Hedgehog Rescue will be on site with some rescued hedgehogs for visitors to meet. Yvonne will also provide information about how to help hedgehogs and answer any hedgehog questions. There will also be hedgehog themed trails in the house and grounds.

11am: National Garden Scheme Weekend

Acton Court gardens will open to the public to raise funds for the NGS. Special guests will include 16th Century herb gardener Lettys Parkyn and The Hawk and Owl Trust. Acton Court gardener Nic Jones will be on site to answer questions and there will be light refreshments on sale.

6pm: Hammer Out 10th Anniversary Party, Berkeley

To celebrate the ten years since Hammer Out started, we would like to invite you to join us for an evening of celebrations, 6–11.30pm at Cattle Country, Berkeley, Gloucestershire.

This is a family evening, so bring your children with you – the playbarn will be open from 6pm to 8pm. A buffet and disco is included in the price of your tickets.

The tickets cost £9 for an adult and £6 for a child (age 6-16). A family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) is available for £28. Children aged 5 or under are free.
