Toad Hall (otherwise known as Thornbury United Reformed Church), Thornbury
ACT (Arts and Community in Thornbury) is delighted to offer a warm welcome to anyone and everyone from 0 to 90, to join Mr Toad for a musical version of his adventures, plus a sumptuous afternoon tea, which Toad's helpers will serve in the secret garden, weather permitting!
This costumed and narrated musical treatment of The Wind In The Willows was written by John Rutter and will be sung by a mixed barbershop singing group called Razor Sharp, accompanied by Nigel Davies on the piano, with Barbie Davies as the Magistrate and a Field Mouse!
This group was formed more than 25 years ago in response to a Church roof appeal and since than has raised many hundreds of pounds for worthy causes. The entertainment will be followed by a delicious picnic tea, with plenty of home made treats, served in hampers from 'Toad Hall'.
Tickets are £8 and £7 for FACTs (Friends of ACT) and are available from Thornbury Garden Centre in the High Street. This is sure to be a popular event and places are limited, so tootle along, like Toad, and join in the fun!

Schools and children’s clubs are being invited to design and build their own ‘Silly Scarecrows’ which will be displayed in the Victorian Walled Garden at Old Down.
The team of up to 25 children plus their teachers or club leaders, whose scarecrow is judged to be best will then be invited to a special day at the Park where they will be shown around by a Park Ranger and will be given the opportunity to help feed some of the animals. Plus they will have a special party lunch in the Old Down Cafe.
And the scarecrow can be as imaginative as you like - maybe a pirate; or a spaceman; or even a monster. You don’t need to spend lots of money either as a scarecrow can be made from any old cast-off bits and bobs that you can find hanging around the house. Don’t forget to ask dad before using his best trousers !
Anyone wishing to join in the Silly Scarecrow Competition can pick up a leaflet at the Old Down Cafe or Farm Shop - and don’t forget - your scarecrow needs to be delivered to Old Down by 22nd October for judging over the half term week.
