MyThornbury newsletter
Each month, over a thousand people living in and around Thornbury receive our email newsletter, letting them know what's new on MyThornbury - new competitions, new events, and new things to see and do.
If you'd like to be one of them, simply use the form on the right to send us your email address.
Here's the latest newsletter:
Hi everyone,
It's Back to School with a splash this September - Puddle Ducks swimming lessons are restarting at The Sheiling School, and you could win a £50 voucher to treat your favourite small person.
And there's a A Touch of Magic in store for the winner of tickets to Barry Smith's Magic Show at the Cossham Hall in November - enter the draw now and prepare to be astounded.
There are plenty of ideas for treats and bargains on the Offers page - book your kids for a free Kumon trial, while you enjoy personal training or a massage, or quaff free champagne at Ronnies...
If September means the school run begins again for you, check out our Motoring Tips to keep everyone safe.
September 11th is a key date for Thornbury: not only is the Food Fair back with a mouth-watering array of produce, new ladies wear shop Tia-Tia has a formal opening that day, Rich Cornock will be signing copies of A Year on a Dairy Farm at Thornbury bookshop, and Heritage Open Days give us all a peek behind the scenes of the town's oldest buildings.
One of those buildings is the Town Hall, where you'll be able to view plans to switch off some street lights at night in Thornbury. See the Town Council page to read more about the ideas, and how to feed back your own thoughts on the issue.
You'll also be able to buy raffle tickets at the Food Fair for the chance to become a VIP and help switch on Thornbury's High Street Christmas lights in November. See the Thornbury Christmas Lights Association page to find out more.
Sustainable Thornbury's hugely sucessful Give It Away/Take It Away Day is back on September 19th. Gather up your unwanted possessions and make a mental shopping list of what to pick up.
And remember to book ahead for your favourite events at October's Taste South Gloucestershire Local Food and Drink Festival - highlights for 2010 include a tour of Thornbury Castle vineyard, and chances to make sausages and joint poultry.
See the events calendar for plenty more ideas...
