Who We Are

Thornbury WI was re-formed in 2010, since then the “Thorn Birds” have evolved into a friendly sociable group of women of all ages.

We like to try new activities and listen to a variety of speakers, we enjoy meeting new friends, and having fun.

Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month from 7.30–9.30pm at Thornbury Methodist Hall.

Guests are always welcome. Annual membership costs £33.

Thornbury WI also offers extra social and educational events throughout the year and the opportunity to support and be involved in local and community events.

Our Latest Meeting

Our April meeting marked the third anniversary of the formation of Thornbury WI and our birthday celebrations got off to a flying start when an energetic group of ladies known as ‘Family Ties’ entertained us to a medley of songs interspersed with amusing anecdotes and a humorous poem.

Their infectious enthusiasm soon ensured that members joined them in a singsong and everyone had a thoroughly fun time. Following a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ and cakes and refreshments, President Di Wood brought the evening to a close at 9.30 pm.

Our next meeting is on Tuesday 21st May when our guest speaker will give a talk on gardening and we will also debate this year’s national WI resolution on the decline of our high streets.
