About Us

Are you interested in local history? The Thornbury Local History and Archaeology Society meets on the second Tuesday of every month between October and May.

We have an interesting programme of speakers, both academic and knowledgeable amateur historians. Talks are illustrated either by powerpoint or occasionally by films or physical artefacts.

The talks cover a wide variety of topics all based on our local area. We also normally organise a summer outing to a local site of historical interest.

Talks normally take place at 7.30pm at St Mary's Church Hall in Eastbury Road. There is a refreshment break half way though a talk when tea/coffee and biscuits are provided.

Membership is £10 for the year or you can come as a visitor for £2.50 for a single meeting.

For more information about membership or our programme of events, e-mail Guy Rawlinson at or visit thornburyhistory.org.uk or our facebook page.

We look forward to welcoming you to a meeting soon.
