An Evening with Dementia - a one-man play
7.30pm, Cossham Hall, Thornbury.

Trevor T. Smith has worked as an actor for the Royal Shakespeare Company, for the Theatre Workshop at Stratford East (over a dozen productions), at the Old Vic and in many of London's West End theatres as well as in films.

He has also appeared in many television series including Rumpole of the Bailey, The Bill, Allo, Allo, The House of Elliot, London's Burning, Softly, Softly, etc.

Trevor's play is called "An Evening with Dementia" and deals with issues of loss, disempowerment and old age, and deconstructs the experience of an identity cut loose from the rest of the world by the loss of memory.

It is a delightful, often humorous performance which gives a poignant account of the world seen through the eyes of a dementia sufferer.

Recent performances in Stroud have been sold out and audience members have declared, "Anyone who cares for a dementia sufferer should certainly see this play!"

Tickets £7 (concs £5). Click below for more information.

Thursday 1st April 2010
Oldbury Fun Run Registration Opens

Full details will be on the website from April 1st. These will include where the entry forms can be collected from, the opportunity to download a form or entry on line using PayPal.

It is hoped that everyone who enters the Fun Run will collect at least £5 sponsorship money for CLIC Sargent. To make things easier for everyone to collect sponsorship, a site has been set up with Virgin Money Giving and a link to it will be available from the Fun Run website.

This year for the first time we are organising a new class within the Fun Run. There will be a prize for the first three winning teams. Teams will consist of a minimum of 6 people (mixed sexes allowed). Each team when registering must commit to raise a minimum of £150 sponsorship money for CLIC Sargent. Teams that collect over £500 sponsorship will also be entered into a draw to receive a substantial prize which will be presented at the AGM in October.

Teams can enter in one or the other of the two runs. Either the Red race (for adults, U18s and U15s) or the Blue race (for U13s and accompanying adult, walkers and adults who just want a gentle jog). The winners will be the team that has the lowest total of the first six positions across the line.

Once again this year we are offering prizes to the individual that collects the most sponsorship for CLIC Sargent and for those that collect at least £150. This event has raised many £000s for CLIC Sargent – over £7,000 last year alone. At the end of last year there were 48 children under treatment in Gloucestershire – each one needing all the care and help the charity can provide. That is why the money raised from the Oldbury Fun Run is so important in helping the charity to provide appropriate assistance to all children and young people who are diagnosed with cancer throughout the county.
