The Chantry is owned and run by Thornbury & District Community Association, a registered charity, for the benefit of the people of Thornbury and adjoining parishes. The Chantry is a fine listed building located in the conservation area of Castle Street, Thornbury. It dates from the late 16th/early 17th Century. The name for the house suggests it was once a home for priests who were paid by people to chant masses for their souls.
Arranging a function? The Chantry is the perfect venue for any function, with two large halls, smaller rooms, kitchen and a wonderful walled garden with a built in barbecue. We have links with outside caterers and use of the bar outside regular hours can be arranged.
Fancy a Drink? The Chantry has its own Social Club, with a friendly atmosphere and beautiful, secluded garden to sit in on sunny days. The bar is open from 8 to 11pm Monday to Friday and other times upon request.
Do you need Meeting Space? We have various size rooms available, seven days a week, at reasonable rates. Kitchen facilities, car parking and OHP/flipcharts etc are all available to use.

The Old Cyder House offers two function rooms, a smaller meeting room and cloakroom facilities. The upper function room is a lecture theatre with moveable seating for up to 60, adjustable lighting, whiteboard and large screen. Broadband, projectors, and flip charts etc are also available. The lower room holds is an exhibition space/perfect for meetings or refreshments; a further smaller meeting room or break-out room holds up to 10.
Teas, coffees, biscuits and buffet meals can be served, and the premises are licensed. There is a secluded garden immediately outside; and on-site parking for 25 cars. Edward Jenner's (newly refurbished) former dining room in The Chantry is also available for small meetings.
