At last it feels as if spring is on its way and already Thornbury In Bloom is well underway with work and projects to enhance your town over the next year. There are one or two things that we need your help with however – so don’t stop reading now!

1. PLANT STALL One of the fund raising activities we have each year is a plant stall in the High Street- just next to the Town Hall- but what we need are PLANTS TO SELL! We do rely on donations and we could do with rather more than we have had for the last few years- so while you are sowing seeds, transplanting, taking cuttings etc please bear us in mind and do a few spares for us- especially if you have some more unusual plants. The stall is Saturday May 17th.I will be in touch as to what to do with your donations nearer the time or give me a ring on 01454 419350. Then all you have to do is to come along and see what other people have donated and what you could buy!

2. Hanging Baskets. Thornbury In Bloom has its own poles for hanging baskets to increase the amount of Flowers that can be displayed in the Town. This year we are going to have some new good quality self-watering baskets for an improved display, which will last longer into September without so much watering. We are appealing for sponsors for these baskets. The price is £30 and we can arrange, if required, a small plaque on the post to commemorate a loved one or to promote your business or organisation- or you may just be happy knowing you have helped make your town bloom!

3. Ideas. Finally don’t forget we are doing this for you!

If you have any ideas for projects that we could look at, areas in the town that need our attention or if you need help getting something started yourself- PLEASE GET IN TOUCH- we will be pleased to hear from you. Towns that are successful in the "In Bloom" competitions often have lots of small groups tending different parts of the town or taking responsibility for different areas. Some ideas have to be cleared with the Town Council or South Glos. but we can help with this.

Happy Gardening!

From Sue Aitken and all the Thornbury in Bloom committee.
