Live in Concert
A world-famous glittering showcase for the best of the country's young musicians NYJO is known for its unique swinging big band sound. Their music repertoire is huge, covering music written especially for them, often by British composers, as well as standard tunes we all know... from the swinging great American songbook to more contemporary big band jazz.
NYJO was founded in 1965 by Music Director Bill Ashton OBE and many of the current generation of top players have risen through its ranks. It aims to raise the profile of jazz but its programme is designed to appeal to both non - jazz audiences and jazz - lovers alike.
Last year was a landmark year for the orchestra as, under the direction of its new MD Mark Armstrong, NYJO performed a televised Prom from the Albert Hall, and this January played to a sell-out audience at The Ronnie Scott Jazz club.
Come and enjoy the company of twenty-two instrumentalists and two singers for a musical extravaganza!
