The South Cotswold Choral Group will hold a workshop to study J.S.Bach’s B minor Mass under the leadership of Nigel Perrin. The public are invited to take part in studying this great work.
The workshop runs from 10.30am-4pm when the public are invited to come and listen to a performance of the results of the day’s endeavours.
Nigel Perrin was for a long time the high voice of the King’s Singers and now is heavily involved in choral singing in both Bath and Wells.
The price for the all day workshop is £15 which includes teas, coffees, biscuits and even cake!

Thornbury Churches Together in partnership with Thornbury Town Council will be holding a Civic Service to celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. It will be held on Sunday 3rd June at 3pm in St Mary’s Parish Church, Thornbury. Everyone is welcome to come and give thanks to God for her life and reign and to join us afterwards for refreshments and entertainment at St Mary’s Primary School.

The final programme of Adult Education Courses at The Castle School for this year will begin on Tuesday, 12 June.
Men’s Keep Fit will be running as usual, (7–8.30pm) through to the end of term, and possibly beyond!
Beginners Spanish will run for 6 weeks (7–9pm) at £54.00 – a last chance before the school holidays!
Steel Band will be on offer, with the class catering for both beginners and previous players from 6.30–7.30pm at £30.00.
Three craft classes complete the 6-week programme, subject to numbers. Pottery will return from 6–8pm at £54.00. Art classes will be available, experimenting with colour, texture and different media 6.30-8.30pm at £54.00.
Stained Glass Art (7–9pm) completes the programme (£54.00). This is an opportunity to try the traditional techniques, learning to cut glass, lead up a design of your choice, solder, putty and finish a panel, mirror or decoration. Have a go – it’s easier than you think! Places are limited.

Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra

The Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra gave a first concert in March to help raise money for the Castle School’s Jazz Orchestra. 40% of the funds raised has gone towards workshops run by MYJO for our budding jazz talents, as well as regular intervention by local jazz musicians.
This now culminates in a second concert by MYJO at the school, at which the Castle School Jazz Orchestra will participate.
