Saturday 3rd March 2012
Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra
7.30pm, The Castle School Hall, Park Road, Thornbury BS35 1HT

The Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra is giving a concert to help raise money for the Castle School’s Jazz Orchestra. The Castle School has a history of excellence in music, and with its original members now at university, young blood has come into the Jazz Orchestra.

40% of the money raised from the concert will be going towards workshops run by MYJO for our budding jazz talents, as well as regular intervention by local jazz musicians. This will culminate in a second concert by MYJO at the school on 30 June, at which the Castle School Jazz Orchestra will participate.

Hosting such an exceptionally talented group of young musicians at Castle, will give us the possibility
to see big band jazz at its best! MYJO, as they are commonly known, have played with such distinguished guest artists as Jamie Cullum, Jools Holland, Jacqui Dankworth and the BBC Big Band, and are widely thought to be among the best in the country.

Tickets are £10 and on sale at The Castle School reception, Park Road, Thornbury, but can also be purchased by post. A bar will be available, with all money going towards the Jazz Orchestra fund. For any further information, please contact Tess Wilkinson on 01454 862124 or by email below.
