NYTC presents 'Les Misérables'
Armstrong Hall, Thornbury
From the theatres of the world... to Thornbury’s own stage!
This epic musical is celebrating 32 years on the West End stage and the Students of the Northavon School of Drama, performing as the Northavon Youth Theatre Company, are bringing it to Thornbury’s Armstrong Hall from 27 to 31 March, 2018 at 7.30pm nightly.
This slightly abridged version, while presenting exciting challenges to our Lighting, Scenic Design, Construction, Wardrobe, Make Up and Music personnel, also affords an amazing, unique opportunity to these young people aged 11 to 18! The cast has been working hard to master complicated vocal harmonies and rhythms, plus facing the immense dramatic challenges of depth of characterisation, plus strong emotional involvement. Set in the 19th Century and based on the novel by Victor Hugo, Les Misérables tells the story of an ordinary man: Jean Valjean, who has been emasculated and deprived of human emotion by the harsh treatment he has received. All this changes as a result of a chance encounter with ‘a man of God’ and the rest of his life is chronicled against a background of unrest and insurrection, caused by extreme poverty and hunger.
Both connoisseurs and newcomers to this melodic, stimulating score, enhanced by a 14-piece orchestra, will savour the opportunity of experiencing a riveting production brought to you by the Company with 14 theatrical awards to its name, plus 42 years’ experience of staging high quality youth productions.
We’re excited to be opening an ONLINE Booking Office for the first time, but still pleased to offer concessions to all Students & Senior Citizens, plus reductions for parties of 10 or more, so you can:
