Exhibition: Fetch the Engine!
Thornbury & District Museum
This exhibition runs until April 22nd, and Thornbury & District Museum is open 1pm-4pm Tuesday to Friday, and 10am-4pm on Saturdays.
The museum's first exhibition for the new year explores the history of fire-fighting in the Thornbury area and tells stories of some of the local people involved.
Discover the role played by the hooter at Mr. Cullimore's sawmill and the part played by Sir Stafford Howard of Thornbury Castle.
Find out about the early years of the town's Fire Brigade when the fire officers had to argue for proper equipment.
And you can trace the different locations of the Fire Station as it moved around the town.
If you have any family connection with the fire service in the town, come in and tell us. We would be particularly interested in any old photographs or memorabilia you can show us.
Entry is free, to this exhibition and all other parts of the museum. For more details, check out What’s On at our website below.
