Thornbury Lions raise £2k
Thornbury Lions have enrolled two new members bringing our number to 18. However we will always of course welcome further additions to our membership.
We have at last got the result of the Christmas Grotto at Wyevale. We raised £2000 which will be divided between 2 charities, Sense and Hop Skip and Jump.
We have also given major donations to Thornbury Arts Festival and the Lions International charity Sight First(2).
We are still getting regular requests for our Fun Casinos and the Saturday Bookstall is still going strong.
On the social side we had a very enjoyable Christmas lunch and a successful Burns Night celebration.
We also had a visit to the site of the new Children's Hospice South West at Charlton Farm near Failand. We have given donations to both this Hospice and the one at Barnstaple. Fund raising for the Bristol Hospice has been the target of the Babe Appeal and the fund raising is on schedule for an opening in the Spring. The site is very impressive with state of the art equipment which really is needed for the staff to give the care and attention that is required for the children and families who go there.
