Volunteering Introductory Days
Friday 5th and Saturday 6th March, HMP Leyhill, near Tortworth
Volunteers are needed to join the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) to help monitor the conditions and day-to-day life of prisoners. No specific qualifications are required as training is provided.
Applications are sought from people over 18 from all backgrounds and cultures.
Board members share monitoring duties on a rota basis which typically involves an individual commitment of around two to three days per month at the prison, talking to prisoners and staff and attending the monthly Board meeting.
Appropriate expenses are covered and members are entitled to reasonable time off from their employment to carry out their Board duties.
Interested? If so, why not take the opportunity to come along and meet members of the Board and join them on a tour of the site on either Friday 5th or Saturday 6th March 2010 to see the prison for yourself.
Appointment necessary. For full details, times and directions, please contact the IMB Clerk on 01454 264112 or email below.
