Thornbury Castle is putting together a delicious range of sandwiches to coincide with British Sandwich Week 11-17th May.

The ingredients for these sandwiches will be sourced locally to ensure that they are both environmentally friendly and support regional producers.

For the food connoisseur, Thornbury Castle has perfected a delicious "Gloucestershire Old Spot" Pork Sausage sandwich covered in melting Double Gloucestershire cheese from Liz Godsell's Church farm at Leonard Stanley, Gloucestershire, all sourced within 15 miles, for a mouth-watering £7.95. Chef recommends a Bath Gem bottled conditioned ale with this at £4.50.

If you would like a full afternoon tea, spoil yourself with a selection of finger sandwiches with fillings such as egg mayonnaise using free range eggs from Naite farm a mile away; smoked salmon using fish caught in the river Wye; cherry tomato using tomatoes from the Castle's own glasshouse - not forgetting the selection of freshly baked cakes, scones, cream and jam!
