Big prizes in Rotary Music Competition
Over £1000 in prize money and a range of trophies are on offer in the prestigious Rotary Young Musician competition, but only if you hurry! The deadline for entries to this event, run annually by eight local Rotary Clubs, is 31 October 2007. The heats take place next January, with a Grand Final in February. The competition is open to local young musicians (Grade 6 or above) in various sections – strings, woodwind, brass, percussion and piano. The winner will be invited to perform at the Rotary District Conference before an audience of 1000 people – a flying start to a star career.
Last year's winner was Dominic de Souza. Since the competition this talented player has been in steady demand as a soloist – recently with Stroud's Capriol Orchestra, playing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto to great acclaim.
To enter, contact David Chalmers of the Rotary Club of Cotswold Tyndale, on 01453 542717.
