Berkeley Castle re-opens for the Summer Season on Sunday 28th March, and to start the new Season in style, the Castle is launching its own Photography Competition in conjunction with the Cotswold Care Hospice in Minchinhampton.

Entrants can enter one digital photograph of Berkeley and the surrounding area, into one of the four categories – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. A total of twelve winners will be selected, three from each category, all of which will be used in the 2011 Berkeley Calendar. One overall winner from the twelve will be selected to feature on the front cover of the Calendar.

Visitors to the Castle can get a head start, as there will photography advice available at the Castle, from local photography experts, on 28th and 31st March, and 7th and 14th April 2010.

The closing date is 31st July, and the calendar will be on sale from the end of August. The best thing about the whole competition is that it is completely FREE to enter and the prizes include Family Season Tickets for the Castle, and an invitation to a presentation evening at the Castle.

It is hoped to initially raise £5,000 from the sale of the calendars, the proceeds of which will be split between the Cotswold Care Hospice and the Berkeley Castle Charitable Trust.
