With the rising costs of conventional power and the realisation that CO2 levels must be stabilised, many householders are wondering if there is a role in their own homes for renewable energy and how easy it is to convert to sustainable sources.

Council in a new scheme, SG Futurenergy, offering the possibliity of substantial grants towards renewable energy installations. The project managers are all well versed in the various sustainable products, the grants available and the practical aspects of installation. A one-stop shop for expert advice. Thornbury's Farmers' Markets are every first and third Thursday of the month. Come and enjoy fresh local produce.
Thornbury High Street- just next to the Town Hall
One of the fund raising activities Thornbury in Bloom has each year is a plant stall - but what they need are PLANTS TO SELL!
They rely on donations and could do with rather more than they have had for the last few years - so while you are sowing seeds, transplanting, taking cuttings etc please bear them in mind and do a few spares - especially if you have some more unusual plants.
For advice on what to do with your donations, call Sue on 01454 419350. Then all you have to do is to go along and see what other people have donated and what you could buy!
2-4pm, Manorbrook Primary School, Park Road, Thornbury
Come along and join the celebration. Trees were planted 25 years ago at the bottom of the school's playing fields and during the last year, local groups and the school community have worked together to redevelop the area into a wildlife habitat which will be an extra learning resource.
This has been possible due to fund-raising by Friends of Manorbrook and a 'BBC breathing places' lottery grant. There will be entertainment and refreshments, including a barbecue. For more information, contact Fran Graham by email.

2pm
Walk with Nick Large.
Following the very successful sell-out trails in the last couple of years we are continuing the same theme, this time taking in the Severnside scenery from Littleton Pill to the fossil bearing cliffs at Aust.
Enjoy a relaxed level walk with an expert guide prepared to answer all your questions on the area's history, industry and geology - with some informed natural history to boot.
Nick has planned this as an informal guided ramble for families and will refer to the Great Whale of 1885, the sailing ship Matilda, the Severn salmon fisheries, the geology of Aust cliff, the river crossings, and the Aust Goddess.
Distance - 4 Km. Time taken - between 2 to 21/2 hr, a cream tea will then be available at The White Hart.
Meet at Whale Wharf from 1.30pm, the walk will start at 2.00pm. Parking is limited, if you can offer a lift or would be prepared to car share, please email below.

7.30-10pm, Stuart Room, The Chantry, Thornbury
We require a new Chair and Treasurer to replace Jeff and Paula. This year we have also carried a vacancy of Membership Secretary which would be good to fill. Both joint secretaries are willing to continue but all members must be re-elected each year.
We hope that the formal business will take no longer than an hour, leaving us with plenty of time for informal discussion about how we want to take our organisation forward next year. We may combine (short) AGM with discussion about where ST sits in comparison with work on Transition Towns, Slow Towns, other groups in order to assist future planning of activities.
Please email for more information.
