On the fourth Sunday of each month there is a Family Service at 9.15am at St Paul’s, a Family Eucharist at 10.45am at St Mary’s, and the evening service is normally Choral Evensong. Other Sunday morning services are Eucharistic, with Sunday School at St Paul’s, and provision for children at St Mary’s. We also have service at 4pm in St Mary’s, on the first and third Sunday of every month. The style of this “4all” service is informal, with modern music and a Christian message, and everyone is warmly welcomed. Kids Praise continues at 4pm on the second Sunday of each month, beginning in February. St Mary’s Church is open every day.

A presentation for the general public on plans for reordering St Mary's Church.
The PCC has made the second of its major decisions regarding the preferred design for the re-ordering of the Parish Church. The chosen option introduces a gracefully shaped mezzanine floor, allowing stair and lift access to the Parvis room and a new Tower Room, as well as additional seating space and meeting areas.
For large services, seating for over forty additional people will bring the maximum capacity up to about four hundred and seventy. On the ground floor there will be enhanced kitchen facilities, with two toilets in the Tower, one fully accessible.
The overall cost of this part of the work will be in the region of £80,000 out of an estimated total cost of £850,000.
This follows on from last month’s decision to mark the transition between fellowship and worship areas using differences in lighting, flooring and furnishings.
In the first few months of the new year, there will be a series of further decisions to make, as the architects provide more detailed designs. We are very grateful for all the comments received, which help the PCC make informed decisions. We will continue to consult each month prior to our PCC meetings.
The PCC will then vote on the preferred option on Tuesday 13th January.
