Since 1153, Berkeley Castle has been the fortress home of the Berkeley family, who offer a warm welcome to visitors.
The Castle is one of the most remarkable buildings in Britain and possibly the most outstanding example of Mediaeval domestic architecture in the country.

The revised Castle opening hours for 2008 will be 11am – 5.30pm with last entry at 4.30pm. These times will apply on all public open days including Sundays. Special Event times may vary.

Edward Jenner Museum
Edward Jenner is known as the man who changed the world – he was the inventor of the smallpox vaccination and the founder of immunology. He was also a country doctor, naturalist, geologist, pioneer of ballooning and medical scientist. Find out all about his life and work at the museum established in his beautiful Queen Anne home.

Thornbury & District Museum
The museum was started in 1986 to house a collection of artefacts bequeathed to The Thornbury Society, and rapidly expanded. It is managed by the Thornbury & District Heritage Trust, a registered charity as well as a Trust company, and is supported by South Gloucestershire Council and Thornbury Town Council. It is an independent museum and financed by grants and donations.

The museum is next to the Armstrong Hall, and opening times are Tuesday to Friday 1-4pm, and Saturday 10-4pm. We have a small shop with books, leaflets, pamphlets, postcards, all of local interest.
